Reaction to Max Schulman's
LOVE IS A FALLACY

At first I was really interested as I read the title "Love is a Fallacy", I really thought that this story contains a serious topic about love and relationship. I also thought that this story somehow is the same as the stories of love that I have read on books, magazines, newspapers or stories of love that I saw on the television where in lovers are taken apart by their parents, the girl or the guy risked his life for her or his love or a tragedy happened where in the guy or the girl dies. But this story is not the same as the others. I think this story is weird and also unique! It is my first time to read this kind of story.

As I read the story at first it was a bit of serious and then when I finished reading....the story was funny! I really love the way the writer ended the story where in the girl, named Polly chooses the guy, named Petey instead of the narrator who's very cool, logical, keen, calculating, perspicacious, acute, and astute just because of a raccoon coat? If I where in the girl's situation I would really choose the guy who is intelligent than the other one who is dumb. But it was her decision I guess somehow the girl is right in choosing between the two guys. She chose Petey instead of the narrator.

I really don't like the narrator's traits! The thing I have love about him was only his intelligence. But in that situation he is very stupid! I think because he very "logical" he does not know what love really is. He only wants Polly just because of her beauty, manners and the way the girl carries herself not because he loved the girl. Was that love? That was really not!

Another thing I don't want about the narrator is ....he is very proud of his self, about his intelligence. I think you must be humble if you gifted with that. The other thing was he used his intelligence in evil ways. He know that Petey would do everything for the raccoon coat and dumb as well, so he had a plan just get a raccon coat and have to the girl steady with him. Isn't that rude? He tricks his own roommate? I think it is.

In the case for Petey, I know that he would do everything for the raccoon coat because he really want things which are also used by the Big men in their campus. But it is wrong to exchange your girl for a coat!(grr!) But at the end I was happy about Petey where he ask Polly to be steady with him eventhough he had a deal with the narrator. The deal to help the narrator steady with Polly.I think Petey has love to offer and more deseving for Polly.

In the end I did not expect that Polly would choose Petey than the narrator. It was the narrators fault why he did not got Polly. If he did not taght Polly all those things he would be with Polly.
